Reader’s Question:

My insurance policy is up for renewal in a few days, can you help me find cheap Arkansas car insurance for my pick up?

Alex

Fayetteville, AR

Finding for a cheap Arkansas car insurance will need a little time cheap car insurance quotesto do. You’ll need to compare quotes from different insurance companies so that you won’t miss out on a lot of good offers. Before you do that, check out the ways described here on how you’ll be able to get better rates from any car insurer.

Car model and type. If you happen to be driving a fast car, an expensive car or a car that is generally rated high by insurers, then, you’ll need to rethink about your vehicle. A pick up truck is usually rated higher compared to sedans. If you don’t really need a pick up, trade it in for a car with a smaller engine. Pick up vehicles have bigger engines and could run very fast. Insurers do not like drivers to be speeding because that could result to accidents. There have been many cases of fatal accidents wherein the vehicle driven by the at-fault driver is a pick up. When you are speeding and would like to avoid a collision, a pick up can sometimes become hard to control. This has been proven many times in the past.

Driving record. This is the most important consideration. If you have managed to keep your driving record relatively clean – that means no major traffic violations, then, you can expect to get a cheap car insurance. If you have pending fines, settle them right away and call the Department of Motor Vehicles so that your record can be updated.

You can also talk to your insurance agent and ask him for some ideas on how you could get discounts on your next renewal so that you’ll end up with a cheap car insurance. If your agent is nice, he’s very likely to give you hints.

Why You Should Buy Whole Life Insurance

Reader’s Question:

Should I buy whole life insurance?

Andrew

Fayetteville, AR

Whole life insurance can be your choice of insurance if you’re considering purchasing it for long range goals. As long as you can keep making those premiums, your coverage is maintained permanently until you die. Here are some key features of this type of policy.

Level Premiums

Premiums for whole life policies are generally level and payable for life. Hence, it is better to buy your whole life policy while young to avail of cheaper annual premiums. You may opt to pay your premiums in shorter payment periods such as 15 years or go for a one time payment.

Dividends

There is a possibility that you can earn dividends from your whole life insurance. This happens when your actual costs of life insurance is lesser than your set premium payments. As a consequence, your insurer will return a portion of your premiums to you in the form of dividends. Dividends are not guaranteed yet since you would not know in advance the actual costs of your policy.

Cash Values

Whole life insurances are generally known for building up cash value overtime. A portion of your premium payments accumulate as guaranteed cash values. The amount of it will depend on the type of whole life insurance you own. You can also borrow against it as long as the policy is in force. However, borrowed amounts will reduce the death benefit and cash surrender value. Cash values will still be available to you even if you opt to surrender the policy. Under the present federal income tax law, cash value is tax deferred.

People who prefer whole life insurance policies tend to enjoy coverage with minimal risk. With this type of policy, the insurance company takes all the risks. So even if mortality costs are increasing, your policy cost will not be affected at all. Conversely, decreasing costs of insurance claims would allow insurers to reap extra profits out of your policy.

Auto Insurance Coverage for Repaired and Totaled Vehicle Arkansas AK

Reader’s Question:

I got into a wreck here in Arkansas, and I’m still waiting for a call from the claims adjuster. I don’t know if my car will be repaired or if it will just be totaled. Can you tell me what will happen if it turns out either way?

Rick

Pine Bluff, AK

Auto insurance policies are not replacement policies, so don’t expect that your vehicle will be replaced whenever you get into a wreck. Your auto insurance policy only covers the actual cash value (ACV) of your vehicle at the time of the accident. The auto insurance company can either repair your vehicle or pay for the vehicle’s ACV if it gets totaled.

If the auto insurance company there in Arkansas decides to repair your vehicle, it may opt to use aftermarket parts to meet your vehicle’s ACV. Aftermarket parts are used parts that are produced by companies other than those that make the original parts. The use of aftermarket parts is not really indicated in your insurance contract, so you may request from your auto insurance company not to use them. However, since original parts are more expensive, if the cost of repair of your vehicle goes beyond what is covered by your policy, then you are expected to pay for that extra cost.

If the auto insurance company totals your car, it means that the cost of repairing your damaged vehicle is more than the vehicle’s actual worth. The auto insurance company will more likely offer you a price that is equal to your car’s worth in the market. You may want to get several quotes for a similar vehicle from used car dealers, so you could get an idea on how much your vehicle costs. Remember that the auto insurance company could always raise its offer to you as long as you give them proof of your vehicle’s worth.

Beginner Driver Insurance Arkansas AR

Reader’s Question:

I heard that for beginner driver insurance here in Arkansas costs more than the average automobile insurance policy. Is this true, and why?

Bettie

Fayetteville, AR

Bettie, this information you have collected on beginner driver insurance there in Arkansas is actually true. If you go around your area and ask automobile insurance companies, or if you go to Web sites of automobile insurance companies and ask for quotes for beginner driver insurance, you would receive the same replies. And that would be large amounts of money smiling in your face.

This poses a large problem especially if your budget is not that big. You see, automobile insurance companies’ perception of beginner drivers, especially the teens, is that they get into more trouble on the road compared to the older motorists. Statistics have proven that teenagers that are 16 years old are four times more hazardous on the road than the other age brackets combined. This is the reason why teen driver insurance policies are expensive already from the onset. It is because beginner drivers are high-risk drivers. This is to protect the companies’ interests in the event that a beginner driver repeatedly makes claims because of involvement in car accidents. It is actually logical, is it not?

You may think that you have such a bad luck because of this information. However, I must tell you that are certain ways you can take for you to reduce the cost of the beginner driver insurance that you are going to purchase. Examples of these are including your beginner driver in your existing automobile insurance policy, having your beginner driver finish a basic driving course and if the beginner is a teenager, having him acquire good grades in school.

If you follow these few steps, I am entirely sure that you could cut the cost of your beginner driver insurance.

Vehicle Insurance Agent Fort Smith Arkansas AR

Reader’s Question:

I have asked around Fort Smith, Arkansas, and I noticed that different automotive insurance companies require different data from me. What information should I really give to the auto insurance agents and why?

Brenda

Fort Smith, AR

Different insurance companies require different data from you because they need to know what kind of auto insurance premium is appropriate for you. Of course these companies are also thinking about their own, that’s why they need to get your portfolio in order to determine if you would also turn out to be a profitable client or not. Normally, since these companies cannot foresee the future, they choose people who are likely to be “good risks.” With all the applicants that they have, they categorize each and every one of them as who are potentially good risks and who are those who may turn out to be more of a liability to their company. That’s the reason why some insurance companies turn down certain clients (you may encounter some of these insurance companies when you finally get the result of your insurance applications there in Fort Smith, Arkansas) But basically, a vehicular insurance company determines a premium by these following factors: age, sex, marital status, type of vehicle, regular passengers of the vehicle and regular drivers of the vehicle other than you (including their age and sex), place where the vehicle would be garaged, type of risk involved in the neighborhood (where you live). There are also some other hairy details that the insurance company may require you to state, but basically these are the risk factors that they need to consider to be able to determine the kind of premium that you need.

Vehicle Insurance Rate Little Rock Arkansas AR

Reader’s Question:

I just got a speeding ticket three weeks ago here in Little Rock, AR. I know that may affect my auto insurance rate. But I want to know what other factors insurance companies look at in determining insurance premium rate.

Peter

Little Rock, AR

Me, I got one last week. Not a nice month, huh? No worries, though. First (and hopefully the last) a speeding ticket does not really catch the insurance companies’ attention, but don’t make a habit out of it. Your question: what makes insurance company frown and raise your insurance premium rate? Actually, there are lots of factors. Some can be helped, some not. I’ll try to give you the big ones. Of course, number one on the list is driving history. Stay on the road when driving. Check your speed, stay within the speed limit. When you figure in an accident, even when it’s not your fault, the companies will still get alarmed. Then there’s personal profile. Yeah, it’s an unfair world, but some people are riskier to insure than others. Insurance companies believe that men are riskier to insure than women and teens are reckless drivers (hormones and inexperience and all those things). They also favor insuring urban folks than city folks. You’re from Little Rock, Arkansas. This makes you one. This may have something to do with your temper. Grumble, frown, and smirk. They also check if you’ve had continuous insurance coverage. They’d want to know if you’ve been driving around without insurance, which is a bad idea anywhere. They’d also check if your policy has been cancelled before. This gives them an idea about the kind of customer you’d be.

Automobile Insurance Rate Little Rock, Arkansas AR

Reader’s Question:

I would like to know if my car insurance rate will still increase in Little Rock, Arkansas if for example I got a citation for speeding, went to court pay the court cost and the points was not added to my driving record.

James

Little Rock, AR

Your car insurance rate in Little Rock, Arkansas will usually be affected if you were convicted of a traffic violation. The auto insurance carrier is more concerned of the actual violation itself than the points that was assigned to your driving record.

If you were still convicted of the speeding violation and was placed on your driving record, your insurance carrier will be able to see this therefore it will affect your car insurance rate. But if the speeding violation were reduced down to a non moving violation the it is likely that your car insurance rate will not increase.

If this is your first ticket in your driving record, some insurance carriers will not increase your car insurance rate. So it will depend on your car insurance company’s rating system in Little Rock, Arkansas if this speeding violation will affect your car insurance rate or not. However if you good driver discount on your car insurance policy, this may be taken off when you renew your car insurance.
